Out of body......

It was after my first vipassana 10 days silent residential retreat in Chennai, I started off to Coimbatore in order to attend Bhavaspandana program (BSP) conducted by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. I've already attended his 13 days Sahajasthithi Yoga (SSY) program in Chennai directly conducted by him which was a very transformative program by itslef.

After getting down at Coimbatore railway station, I took a bus to Alandurai. Then I had to walk 8 kilo meters from there. There were many others going to Isha at that time. I got a lift on a bike. A young man by the name Veerappan was riding the bike. He was riding very fast on those small roads. My mind was calm after my first vipassana experience. I remained silent without reacting in anyway. But on the first turn we both fell from the bike. Nothing serious happened. We both got back on the bike and again he started off with the same speed and I was still calm. Next turning again we both fell down and this time I told him that I will ride the bike and asked him to sit behind me. He agreed and we reached safely at the center.

According to Isha, BSP is a 4- day, 3-night residential program offered to those who had been initiated into SSY during those days. This workshop transcends the limitations of  body and mind and provides experience of higher levels of consciousness. The word Bhava literally means sensation. Spandana can be loosely translated as resonance. Through powerful processes of meditations, the Bhavaspandana program creates an intensely energetic situation, where individuality and the limitations of the five sense organs can be transcended, creating an experience of oneness and resonance with rest of existence.

So the first day of BSP started with a sport activity. We all participated in a 100 meters running race. I wanted to reach the target first just to ensure my whole hearted involvement in the activity. But since I came from 10 days of silent meditation camp which didn't involve much physical activities, my body couldn't cope up with my mind's desire. The start whistle blew and I started running with all my might! Obviously the body fell down within a short distance, but I continued to run!! Suddenly I felt as if something is missing and I turned around to look back and saw my own body lying down on the ground. I got terribly shocked and got back into my body instantly.

Then I realized that when I fell down, I did hurt my big toe on my left leg. There was a big cut and blood was oozing out. Volunteers came running with first aid kit. Suren started dressing my wound. He cut the peeled skin with a scissors, applied medicine and band aid. I watched the whole scene as if it was happening to some one else. I couldn't feel the pain. Instead I was into a fully aware witness consciousness. I completed the entire workshop activities without any trouble and actually the big wound healed miraculously by the very next day.
